The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) Season-18 will begin today. The first match to be held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata will see defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clash. Allowing the use of leftovers: The ICC had banned the use of leftovers on the ball in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this rule has been removed in this year’s IPL. Thus, bowlers can use leftovers on the ball to get reverse swing assistance.
Use of two balls: Two balls will be allowed to be used during the second innings of matches starting at 7.30 pm. Umpires will allow a change of ball after the 11th over of the second innings to mitigate the effects of ice.
Captain’s ban lifted: In the IPL, a captain who committed a slow over-rate offence 3 times used to be banned for one match. But this rule will no longer apply. Instead, demerit points and a match fee reduction of 25 to 75% will be imposed.
New technology to be used for wides and no-balls: Technology will also be used to judge wides and no-balls. That is, if a no ball goes over the head or the batter is off the stumps, Hawk-Eye and ball-tracking technologies will be used to judge a wide.
Match fee implementation: Players in the playing XI in this year’s IPL will receive Rs 7.5 lakh per match. This means that in addition to their salary, they will receive an additional match fee.
New practice rules: BCCI has restricted practice at match venues. This includes a ban on open net sessions.
Dressing room entry ban: The BCCI has banned friends and family members of players from entering dressing rooms before, during or after a match. They are also not allowed to enter the playing field.
Sitting near the LED board is prohibited: Players and support staff are prohibited from sitting in front of the LED boards near the boundary line during the match. It is also mandatory for everyone to be in the dugout.
Ban on floppy hats: The BCCI has said that wearing fluffy hats during the awards ceremony will not be allowed. Violation of this rule will result in a warning for the first time, and a fine for a repeat offense.
Sleeveless jersey ban: Wearing a sleeveless jersey during the award ceremony after the match is also prohibited. The BCCI has said that if this rule is violated for the first time, a warning will be issued and if the same mistake is repeated, a fine will be imposed.
Suzuki has finally updated all its models with OBD-2B engines. The company’s entire range of vehicles, including the company’s popular Access, as well as motorcycles like the V-Strom, Gixxer SF 250, Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF and Gixxer, are now OBD-2B compliant. However, this update was pending only for the Suzuki Avenis and Suzuki Burgman series of scooters, now both these scooters have also been updated with OBD-2B engines, the company said.
With this, the entire Suzuki range is available for purchase with OBD-2B engines. The updated Suzuki Burgman is powered by an all-aluminum 4-stroke, single-cylinder 124.3cc OBD-2B compliant engine. It churns out 8.5 bhp of power and 10 Nm of peak torque.
The updated OBD-2B Suzuki Burgman Street EX is now available for purchase at a starting price of Rs. 1,16,200 (ex-showroom). The Burgman Street starts at Rs. 95,800 (ex-showroom). The Burgman Street is offered in two variants – Standard Edition and Ride Connect.
Suzuki Avenis: The updated Suzuki Avenis is powered by an all-aluminum 4-stroke, single-cylinder 124.3 cc engine, now OBD-2B compliant. With this engine, it is said to retain its quick pickup and more efficient ride.
With the new updates, the Suzuki Avenis produces 8.5 bhp of power at 6,750 rpm and 10 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The company says it is also powered by Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology and advanced fuel injection technology.
The OBD-2B Suzuki Avenis is available for purchase at a price of Rs. 93,200, (ex-showroom). The new special edition with Metallic Matte Black No. 2 / Matte Titanium Silver is available for purchase at a price of Rs. 94,000 ex-showroom. It is available in Glossy Sparkle Black, Pearl Mira Red, Champion Yellow, Glossy Sparkle Black, and Pearl Glacier White colors.
Among the leading scooters, the Avenis and Burgman are attractive options in the commuter scooter segment and have enjoyed good demand in India.
